Do Not Be Unequally Yoked:

(2 Corinthians 6:14–18) — “Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?”

Listen — Paul said, “Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers.” Now, what’s a yoke? It’s that wooden frame used to bind two animals together to plow the field. If the animals are uneven, the plow goes crooked, the work is hindered, and the harvest suffers! Likewise, when you get closely yoked in friendship, marriage, business, or partnerships with someone who doesn’t share your faith, your spiritual life can be thrown off balance.

Paul is not calling us to isolation or to judge others — no! He’s calling us to spiritual integrity. To walk in holiness. To keep our hearts devoted to Christ. When your closest relationships pull you away from God instead of drawing you closer, that’s a problem. Saints, your faith is precious, your walk with God is sacred — don’t ever let anyone compromise it!

The apostle reminds us: we are children of light, called to walk differently. Our friendships, partnerships, and goals should strengthen our faith, not weaken it. What fellowship has light with darkness? — none! Light cannot be yoked with darkness and still shine bright. And neither can you walk in Christ while being dragged by influences that oppose Him.

This is a call to discernment. Examine your alliances, your closest companions, your daily influences. Are they leading you closer to Christ, or pulling you away? Are your goals aligned with God’s Word, or with the fleeting ways of the world? Choose carefully, saints, because the company you keep has power over your spirit.

Finally, the Word reminds us: choose to be yoked with Christ! Let His Spirit guide you. Let His Word direct you. When you align your heart, your mind, and your life with Him, you walk in unity, in purpose, and in the power of holiness. That is how you plow straight, bear fruit, and live victorious in God! Glory to God! Are you yoked with Jesus?
