The Call for Elders in the Church Today!

The church of Jesus Christ was never meant to be without order, without guidance, or without leadership that walks in the fear of God! From Genesis to Revelation, our God is a God of divine structure and holy alignment! And when Jesus birthed His church, He didn’t leave it to run wild; He placed spiritual leadership within it! That’s why the Word of God declares in (Acts 14:23),  And when they had ordained them elders in every church, and had prayed with fasting, they commended them to the Lord, on whom they believed.” —  not in some, not in a few, but in every church! Hallelujah! God’s design was that His people would be shepherded, nurtured, and led by Spirit-filled, Word-grounded men of God!

You see, family, the office of the elder is not a man-made position—it’s a divine appointment! When Paul wrote to Titus, he said in (Titus 1:5), “For this cause left I thee in Crete, that thou shouldest set in order the things that are wanting, and ordain elders in every city.” ...God told Titus—set it in order! That means a church without elders is a church that’s out of order! The Holy Ghost wants His house to have men and women who will guard the gates, feed the flock, and watch over the souls of God’s people. Elders aren’t just figureheads; they’re watchmen on the wall! They keep the wolves out, they keep the doctrine pure, and they make sure the fire on the altar never goes out!

But hear me, saints! These elders must be men of character; men of integrity; men who live what they preach! The Bible says in (1 Timothy 3:1–2), “If a man desire the office of a bishop, he desireth a good work.” ...A good work! Not a title, not a show, not a platform, but a work! Glory to God! Elders aren’t called to be celebrities; they’re called to be servants. They don’t chase recognition; they carry responsibility. They don’t seek applause; they seek anointing! When the true elders rise up, you’ll know it, not by their suits, not by their seats, but by their spirit of servanthood!

Let me tell you something; the early church thrived because of godly leadership. In (Acts 20:28), Paul said, “Take heed therefore unto yourselves, and to all the flock, over the which the Holy Ghost hath made you overseers.” ...Did you catch that? It’s the Holy Ghost who makes them overseers! Not a vote, not a committee, not a popularity contest—the Spirit of the Living God! He anoints elders to feed, to protect, and to guide His flock. When elders are led by the Spirit, the church walks in unity. When elders are anointed, the house walks in authority. And when elders are obedient, the glory of God fills the place!

That’s why, church, we can’t afford to ignore the biblical call for elders today! The world is dark, confusion is rising, false teachers are multiplying, but the answer is not to water down the Word; it’s to raise up leadership that stands on the Word! God is looking for elders who will stand flat-footed in truth, cry loud and spare not, and shepherd the flock with love and discipline. Elders who don’t just quote Scripture, but live Scripture! Elders who won’t bow to pressure, but will bow their knees in prayer! Elders who are not chasing the crowd, but chasing Christ!

So, let the church rise up and say, “Lord, send the elders!” Send men who walk in wisdom! Send leaders filled with fire and humility! Send overseers who know how to feed the sheep and fight off the wolves! Because when the elders stand in their place, the house will flourish! The people will be fed! The Spirit will move freely! And Jesus will be glorified! Hallelujah! It’s time, church—it’s time to bring the order back, the structure back, and the Spirit-led eldership back into the house of God! Somebody shout, “Lord, raise up the elders!”
