The Word says in (Hebrews 12:1–3), “Let us run with patience the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith!” Oh, glory to God! This ain’t a sprint; it’s a lifelong marathon of faith. And the finish line ain’t fame, fortune, or applause — the finish line is Jesus!
The writer said, “We are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses.” In other words, you’re not running alone! The saints of old; Abraham, Moses, David, Esther, Paul; they’re cheering you on! Every time you feel like quitting, hear their voices shouting, from the word of God; “Keep running! Don’t give up!” Because if they made it through trials, through fire, through persecution, so can you!
Listen — he also said, “Lay aside every weight and the sin that so easily besets us.” In other words, some of y’all trying to run with too much baggage! You can’t run with bitterness on your back. You can’t run with unforgiveness in your heart. You can’t run while holding on to what God told you to let go! Somebody shout, “Lay it down!” Paul told the Corinthians in (1 Corinthians 9:24–27), “Run that ye may obtain!” Don’t just jog through this life; run with purpose! Discipline your spirit, keep your focus, and stay in your lane. Because there’s a crown waiting at the finish line!
Then Paul said in (Philippians 3:13–14), “Forgetting those things which are behind, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.” You can’t run forward while looking backward! Leave the past in the past; there’s greater ahead! Are you pressing on, saints of God? In (2 Timothy 4:7–8), Paul testified, “I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith.” Oh, Glory to God! That’s how I want to finish; not crawling, not complaining, but conquering! Amen? Because the reward isn’t for those who start fast; it’s for those who finish faithful!
James said in (James 1:12), “Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life.” Every test is a testimony in disguise! Every hardship is a step closer to your crown.
Endurance is not weakness; endurance is worship! And look at Jesus — the Word says, “Looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith.” He started your story, and He’s gonna finish it! Don’t look at the crowd. Don’t look at the critics. Don’t look at the chaos. Keep your eyes on Christ!
He endured the cross. (Isaiah 53:3–5) says; He was despised and rejected, a man of sorrows, acquainted with grief, yet He pressed on for the joy that was set before Him! That joy was you, Saints! He saw your salvation beyond the suffering, your redemption beyond the rejection, your victory beyond the pain! That’s why (Matthew 16:24) says, “If any man will come after Me, let him deny himself, take up his cross, and follow Me.” You can’t have resurrection without crucifixion. You can’t reach the crown without carrying your cross. But the same God that strengthened Jesus will strengthen you!
The writer says in (Hebrews 10:35–36), Cast not away therefore your confidence, which hath great recompence of reward. 36 For ye have need of patience, that, after ye have done the will of God, ye might receive the promise. Don’t throw away your faith when it gets hard — that’s when it’s working!
So this is why it burns in my heart to continue encouraging you to continue running your race! Listen: when life gets heavy; keep running! When tears fall; keep running! When people walk away; keep running! When it hurts; keep running! Because you’re not running for people — you’re running for purpose! You’re not running for fame; you’re running for faith! You’re not running for man’s applause; you’re running for heaven’s reward! So, child of God, lift your head high, strengthen those weak knees, and fix your eyes on Jesus, because He’s waiting at the finish line, cheering you on, saying, “Well done, thou good and faithful servant!” Glory to God Almighty!
